You were told to choose.
You never had to.
Every team that wants a custom storefront hears the same thing: to get real design freedom, you have to leave your platform behind. Migrate the catalog. Rebuild the integrations. Retrain the staff. Hope the search rankings survive.
We did not think that trade was real. Trama exists to prove it is not.
The migration tax.
Commerce platforms are genuinely good at what they do. They handle payments, taxes, inventory, fraud, and the hundred unglamorous things that make a store actually work. Most teams have no good reason to replace any of that.
What they outgrow is the storefront — the part customers see. Themes only stretch so far. And at exactly that moment, the industry hands them a bill: to change the front, replace the back. Months of engineering. Real risk to data and search rankings. A team that has to relearn its own tools.
That bill has almost nothing to do with the thing they actually wanted. It exists because the storefront and the backend were historically built as one piece — a convention, not a law of nature. So we built the layer that separates them.
Four things we will not compromise on.
Your platform should stay yours.
Nobody should have to move their catalog, their orders, and their team onto a new system just to change how their storefront looks. Your commerce platform stays the system of record. We never hold your data hostage, and leaving should always be possible.
The people running the store keep the tools they know.
Merchandisers, marketers, and support staff already know your platform admin. A frontend change should not force all of them to relearn their jobs. They keep working exactly where they work today.
Developers deserve a real frontend.
Theme systems run out of room. When they do, the answer should not be "rebuild everything from scratch." Developers should be able to build whatever they want, in the framework they already use, on top of the store that already works.
Infrastructure should be boring.
The layer between your storefront and your platform should be the part you think about least. It should keep working when platforms change, tell you plainly when something needs attention, and otherwise stay out of your way.
Three kinds of people, one problem.
The commitments behind the product.
We are independent.
Trama is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or owned by Wix, Shopify, or Webflow. We support them because our customers use them — which means we can tell you honestly when one of them is the wrong fit for what you are trying to do.
Payments never touch us.
Checkout stays on your platform, where it belongs. Your customers pay through the same secure, compliant flow they always have. You never write payment code, and we never handle a card.
Your credentials are treated as yours.
Connection credentials are encrypted, isolated per customer, and never exposed to your site's visitors. Our security page covers this in more detail.
Leaving is always possible.
Because your platform stays the system of record, your catalog, orders, and customers are never trapped inside Trama. There is nothing to migrate back. That is deliberate — a product people stay with because it works is worth more than one they cannot escape.
Your store, custom, in about a minute.
Paste your store URL on the homepage and watch your real products render through a custom frontend. No signup, no card, nothing to migrate.
